Child Protection training 2019 - Amendments to the Child Protection Act – permanency and information sharing

This session will explore:

  • Amendments to the paramount principle.

  • The inclusion of permanency goals in case planning.

  • Limitations to the total duration of short-term child protection orders.

  • The addition of a new permanent care order (PCO) which can only be varied or revoked on application by the DCPL.

  • Changes to the provisions for sharing information about children and families, including provisions for information to be shared between specialist service providers.

  • The requirement for Child Safety to seek consent from parents, children and pregnant women to share information, unless it is not safe, possible or practical

This session will also include an update on recent noteworthy child protection cases.

When: Monday 10 June / 1:00pm until 2:00pm
